Here at Loyal Guard Kennels we believe that their is no more noble position for a dog then to be a companion and a guardian. You can see photos of my dogs doing protection and weight pull as well as my dogs being family pets by interacting with my children and my sister's infant twins. Protection training does not create a mean dog when done correctly it does however enhance the bond between owner and dog. For a breeder it enables us to learn how trustworthy a potential breeding dog really is, even potential pet owners should want to know how reliable and stable their future pet's parents were..

A protection trained dog is not for the novice dog owner, unless he is willing to spend the time and money with a qualified trainer. A protection dog requires that the owner be able to read the dog and understand what is going on in it's head.

The protection and weight pull training are some of the methods we use to evaluate our breeding stock. Protection training shows me how stable and trustworthy my dog is. The weight pull training shows me not only their strength and endurance but also their willingness to work for their owner and their heat tolerance, these are all desireable traits in family pets. Loyal Guard Kennels strives to consistently produce a total package K-9 regardless if it is one of our bulldogs or one of our bandogs and we use weight pull competitions, protection training, obedience training and X-rays for the evaluation of our dogs.

Also for our bandog program it is very important that our dogs be tested and trained in Protection work. The main reason being a bandog is bred for no other reason but to be a loyal companion guardian. Most of our Protection training and weight pull training is now done at the South Louisiana Performance Dog Club. Sometimes we also travel to the K-9 Pro-Sports facility in Ft.
