David Leavitt's statement accurately sums up the type of Leavitt Bulldog we want to produce here at LGK. Bully yet agile bulldogs that can work, run, take the summer heat, breathe and reproduce naturally without the health problems of the modern day bulldog. I find the pictures of the ancient bullbaiting dogs fascinating. When I look at what the bulldog was at one time and compare it to the modern AKC bulldog I get deeply saddened.
ALL of my dogs are worked in some fashion I HAVE TO KNOW what kind of temperament they have. I have to test them to see how willing they are to work for their owner before they are allowed in my program. My three children ranging from 9 to 13 years of age participate in our weight pull training. Although my 13 year old son has actually handled Adam in protection training when he was 12. I hope to get them further involved in the future. At this point they just assist from time to time. I believe this is good for both the dogs and the kids. They also assist in the day to day running of the kennels.

All of our Leavitt Bulldogs are dual registered they are all registered as Olde English Bulldogges with the Continental Kennel club. Then they are registered with the Leavitt Bulldog Association. This helps us to keep the breed databases accurate. Accurate pedigrees are very important to me.

Our Leavitt Bulldog program is based off of the famous RicAli line of Leavitt bulldogs. RicAli's Bruno is the hub of my breeding program. Nearly all of my Leavitt Bulldogs are based off of the RicAli line and dogs similar to Bruno. I have picked and bred to different lines to keep from breeding to close and yet allow me to produce what I like. Click the picture of Bruno and see my best K-9 friend.

We are very fortunate to have Adam as an outcross to our Leavitt program, he is 1/2 Leavitt and 1/2 Hermes. According to the Leavitt Bulldog Association's outcross program Adam is an OC0. This means that when he is bred to a Leavitt Bulldog the LBA will register the pups as Leavitt Bulldogs. He is an awesome bulldog that can do it all and brings the benefit of hybrid vigor to his puppies. Click his photo to go to his page.
